A BIG well done and thank you to everyone who turned up and took part in the bag packing at Sainsburys today and raised a massive £710-16p.

For six hours combined work by all the girls you must agree that this is a impressive amount that will go towards the club.

Sussex FA to stamp out abuse directed at young footballers

Sussex football bosses have vowed to wage war on verbal abuse directed at young players.

Pushy parents venting anger and inciting foul play along with back chatting referees top the hit list of issues to be tackled by the county’s FA.

Ken Benham, chief executive of the Sussex County Football Association, which governs the local game, said there was no place for abuse, either from players or fans, in all levels of the game.

He said: “It's part of the Respect scheme and educating all in football what is right and what is wrong and how they should act.

“The majority of abuse is verbal and unfortunately in the youth game we can have parents on the sidelines urging their players on to take the legs out of their opponents and then abusing the ref in front of the players. There's no need for that.”

Mr Benham said that if clubs don't ensure their supporters and players act in a responsible and respectful manner then the SCFA would issue sanctions including as fines.

The latest push for better behaviour in the game is part of the National Respect campaign launched by the FA three years ago.

Tote: £1 a bet

All close-run races with fun commentary. Bet on as many horses as you like. If you are a winner, collect your winnings straight after the finish. Cheer on your hoss!

Please remember that the behaviour we expect of people on the side of a pitch also applies to people when posting on the forums. For those who were not around or who have short memories, we have, in the past, been reprimanded by the FA and the league for comments posted on the forums which were insulting or disrespectful of other people from other teams.

If we get into a situation where this happens again, this resource may be withdrawn, so please be mindful of the fragile nature of the existence of these forums. We are one of very few clubs in Sussex who have managed to maintain forums without needing to close it down due to offensive behaviour of the posters and it would be a shame to join the ranks because people get carried away.

PLEASE:

Make sure that the match reports or comments are respectful of all parties involved. This includes referees, opposition and supporters.

Refrain from including any offensive names or terms for the aforementioned people. This includes putting the same words in different ways (i.e. spelled backwards) as an attemmpt to be witty. It isnt.

Remember that the club can and has been held accountable for the messages posted here so do not immitate or encourage insulting, offensive or otherwise disrespectful behaviour, here or at matches.

Remember this is kids football. It isn't the premier league, nor will it be. Let's make it a positive experience for the kids rather than an example of how bad the grown ups can behave.

Waitrose - Lewes

A little birdy tells me that we have been listed as one of the "good causes" sponsored by Waitrose and then donated to at the end of the month, depending on the nominations they have from customers.

How it works:

When you spend a certain amount in Waitrose (around £10 I believe), they give you a little green token with your receipt. You then choose from one of the three monthly good causes and pop your token in their container. At the end of the month, each token equals an amount of money that is given to the club.

Now, I don't really need to spell it out, but I'm going to anyway. Go shop in Waitrose in Lewes and put your token in the Seahaven box. The more tokens we get, the more chance we have of getting a decent amount donated to us by the lovely folks at Waitrose and the better the chance of being able to keep the costs of our beautiful game as low as possible for you, the punters.

Great, innit?

Wednesdays
Ladies - Downs Leisure Centre 8-9pm
Under 16's and Under 15's - Downs Leisure Centre 7-8pm
Under 12's and Under 14's - Downs Leisure Centre 6-7pm

Saturdays
Under 11's - Walmer Road 9-10am

Seaford Schools tournament.

Well done to all the Seahaven girls who took part in the Seaford Schools Tournament at Seaford Head School today. Was great to see so many Harriers there And there was some great football played.
Seaford A were the eventual winners, featuring a good amount of the mighty Harriers, but faced stiff opposition from the Chyngton girls who came second...also featuring a good amount of Seahaven players.

Wanted to say a huge thank you to that silver-tongued devil Silver Fox, AKA Ian Sandles, and Gav Richards for their help on the day and a huge shout out to Naikita and Sharnie for coming down and refereeing for us.

Hi all,

Congratulations to all the Seahaven gals who featured at the Seaford Head Sport Awards this week, you know who you are. The KS3 team award went to the gal's footie team packed with Harriers.

Also congratulations to Emma H who has passed her level II training certificate.

Lauren Jones

Lauren is a 13 year old girl who played for Worthing Minors last year and had trials for the centre of excellence, when she suffered a fall from a tree which left her paralysed from the waist down. More details about the accident and Lauren's response can be found here.

Thanks for a lovely Day (Fun Day)

Would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to all involved in organising the fun day and all those that spent all day working hard, so that everybody else could have a nice relaxing day in the sunshine. I am not going to name name's as there are so many people that were working hard and i don't want to miss anyone out, so thanks to all that were involved, you know who you are.

Dylan and I had a great time(thanks Dawn). I hope you all considered it to be a great success, i certainly did.

Bagpacking at Sainsbury's

Further to the message at the top of the page, which will not be there forever, I wanted to give a huge thank you to all the people who organised the bag-packing event this weekend and to everyone who came and did their part in raising funds and awareness for the club.

We handed out hundreds of funky leaflets to interested girls and young ladies who were interested in getting involved and from the hard work of our bag-packers, we raised £1647.50.

I think you should all give yourselves a pat on the back.
